Areas of Focus & Techniques
I provide private, respectful one-to-one sessions tailored to your individual needs, with a focus on breast cancer rehabilitation, Caesarean scar tissue work, and restorative care that supports healing, mobility, and overall wellbeing.
Areas of Focus
Breast Cancer Massage
This treatment is to support breast cancer recovery through a comprehensive approach. Manual lymphatic drainage is utilised to alleviate lymphedema by promoting the natural drainage of lymph fluid, reducing swelling and discomfort. Scar tissue and radiation fibrosis mobilization are incorporated to improve tissue elasticity, decrease pain, and restore mobility affected by surgery and radiation therapy.
Rehabilitation exercises focus on improving and maintaining range of motion in the affected shoulder and arm, helping to prevent stiffness and enhance functional recovery. Compression therapy is applied to manage swelling and support lymphatic flow effectively.
All care is delivered within a supportive, trauma-informed framework, ensuring sensitivity to the emotional and physical challenges faced during recovery. This holistic approach aims to optimise healing, improve quality of life, and empower patients throughout their rehabilitation journey.
Caesarean Massage
This treatment is specifically for individuals who have undergone a caesarean delivery, aiming to reduce scar tissue formation and improve functional mobility. It incorporates manual lymphatic drainage and myofascial scar tissue techniques to promote optimal tissue healing and decrease adhesions.
Rehabilitation exercises tailored to all stages of healing support recovery by enhancing strength, flexibility, and overall function. The treatment also provides ongoing supportive care to assist you as you continue navigating the parenthood journey.
Therapy can begin as early as the first week post-surgery and remains beneficial up to two years following the caesarean delivery, accommodating a wide range of healing timelines.
TECHNIQUES
Manual lymph drainage
Manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) is a gentle, rhythmic massage technique designed to stimulate the lymphatic system, encouraging the flow of lymph fluid to reduce swelling, remove metabolic waste, and support immune function. Performed with light, precise strokes and specific directional patterns, MLD targets superficial lymph vessels and nodes to promote drainage from congested tissues toward functioning lymphatic pathways. It is commonly used after surgery, injury, or in conditions that cause lymphedema, as well as to aid recovery, reduce inflammation, and improve circulation and tissue health.
Myofascial Release
Myofascial release is a hands-on manual therapy that targets the fascia — the connective tissue surrounding muscles, organs and joints — to reduce tension, restore mobility and alleviate pain. The therapist applies sustained, gentle pressure and stretching to areas of restricted fascia, encouraging the tissue to soften and lengthen and improving hydration and glide between layers. Because fascial restrictions can develop from injury, surgery, poor posture or chronic stress, myofascial release addresses both local symptoms and the broader patterns of tension that perpetuate dysfunction.
Scar tissue massage
Scar tissue massage is a targeted manual therapy that helps soften and remodel fibrous tissue formed after surgery, injury, or inflammation; by using gentle, sustained pressure and specific movements. This encourages collagen fibres to realign more parallel to the skin, reduces adhesions between layers, improves local circulation and lymphatic drainage, and restores mobility and sensation in the area. It can decrease tightness, pain, numbness and restricted range of motion around the scar.
